Call for IUPUI MURI Mentorship Proposals

Applications from faculty members and senior researchers are welcome now until September 10, 2008.

Applications are sought from all IUPUI faculty and researchers who are interested in mentoring undergraduates to conduct inter/multidisciplinary research in teams of at least two students studying in different disciplines. This is a unique opportunity provided to IUPUI faculty and researchers for mentoring students while earning research funds and conducting pilot projects. Beginning this year MURI teams are to be set up to begin in the fall and extend through the academic year. Projects should be completed by May 1st.  MURI team assignments will be made for the entire academic year unless a student graduates in December or the projectis terminated by the project director. Student applicants will contact project leaders to inform them of their interest to participate on a team and will set up a meeting time to discuss their interest.  Each student will provide the project leader with a copy of the student application form, which has been signed by one of the two MURI Directors (Kathryn Wilson or Hasan Akay) and his or her resume. Project leaders will choose from among the applications they receive and inform the MURI Directors of their choices.  The MURI Directors will coordinate the final team assignments.

The IUPUI MURI Selection Committee will review the submitted proposals. Winning proposals for summer will be announced by September 15, 2008 and the student selections will be made before October 1st for all teams. 

Student applications to be team members should be submitted between September 15, 2008 and September 22, 2008.

Students may initiate projects themselves. Student proposals to lead MURI teams are due on September 10, 2008.
